Camp Real Pants at AWP

CRP_Logo_PNG_trans

Today we are happy to launch our event for AWP 2016 in LA: Camp Real Pants. It’ll be on Friday, April 1, at Astroetic Studios, which is about 15 minutes from the conference center, walking. Join us all day, and find out more about it at camp.realpants.com where you can register and get a free tee shirt.

Mess Hall Readings

At the start of the day, Publishing Genius and 421 Atlanta will be dishing up lunch grub and hosting readings by Jarod Roselló, Sarah Green, Chris Cheney, and more.

Publishing bootcamp

We’re going to have a publishing bootcamp, with great organizations presenting on all manner of publishing related topics, like SPD will be there to discuss how best to sell books. Calvert Morgan will talk about his experience at Harper Perennial. VIDA will present on their mission and why it matters so much to be mindful of who we’re publishing. Spencer Printing will talk about options for making books.

Readings

We’ll start the day at 12:30 with lunch and a few readings, and after the publishing sessions, we’ll switch gears to more readings. Green Mountains Review and their readers are hosting a happy hour at 6, and then Dark Fucking Wizard and LIT will be hosting a pizza party reading at 7:30. We’ll cap it off with a (fake) campfire with a singalong and ghost stories.

Who’s involved with Camp Real Pants?

We’re still finalizing all the participants, but the event’s big sponsor is Submittable. Gene Morgan, Amy McDaniel and I are doing most of the planning, and we’re totally open to more ideas. We want to create a productive and inclusive atmosphere.

Some of the featured presenters and readers include Amy King, Camille Rankine, Lynn Melnick, Calvert Morgan, Small Press Distribution, Sarah Green, Jane Liddle, Chris Cheney, Timothy Willis Sanders, Russell Dillon, Madeline ffitch, Jarod Roselló, Robyn O’Neil and more.

Other sponsors include Spencer Printing, LIT, VIDA, and Green Mountains Review. And of course Real Pants (including 421 Atlanta and Publishing Genius).

It’s free!

You can register here. The first 25 people to sign up will receive a CRP tee shirt. It’s all 100% free but we’re taking donations.
