From the Desk of … Carley Moore

This week I asked author and New York University faculty member Carley Moore to share a picture of her desk and answer the question: Messy or clean?

A photograph of Carley Moore's desk

I’m clean. Some would say tidy. My kid recently told me that I could choose to be messy. I think she wishes that I would stop telling her to put her underwear in the hamper. I write at my kitchen table which I hardly ever eat off, and it doesn’t have much on it—my computer, a couple of books I’m currently reading for guidance and research on my novel, the fruit bowl, my notebook, and a flower drawing by my kid. I’ve built a little altar to the right of the table to give me strength. I keep it pretty clean so I don’t get distracted, which happens a lot anyway. – Carley Moore
