From the Desk of … Chelsea Laine Wells

This week I asked Chelsea Laine Wells, writer and managing/fiction editor of HYPERtext Magazine, to share a photograph of her desk and answer the question: Messy or clean?

My work space is always clean. First, I’m a librarian and, for me anyway, the organization stereotype applies. Second, I have a lot of gear: laptop, iPad, writing journal, planner, graph paper storymapping notebook, special particular pens, books for inspiration and source material, phone (which I do use for writing everyday thanks to Evernote.) All of that must be in check or chaos ensues. Finally, I have to be physically organized because my subject matter is messy and complex. An organized work space and writing process allow me to be as visceral and subversive on the page as necessary. – Chelsea Laine Wells
