From the Desk of … Patrick Williams

This week I asked Patrick Williams (poet and winner of the 2015 Chris Toll Prize) to share a picture of his desk and answer the age-old question: Messy or clean?

The desk of Patrick Williams

Generally messy, but with the best of intentions. My desk is in a shallow, half-wallpapered closet in a pretty public room of our house. I’ve had to be tidier since I removed the closet’s sliding doors; I used to just jam them closed when things got too unsightly and move to the dining room or coffee table. Most of the actual mess is taunting me from the surrounding shelves and drawers right now. – Patrick Williams
